Project Overview:
Car-go makes it possible to transfer large personal items locally in a convenient, secure, and safe manner. Their network of cargo vans and pickup trucks are on call and operated by Service Providers who are happy to transport your cargo from A to B, seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.
I designed the user flow chart for the Driver Registration Feature that shows the process a driver goes through when registering for the first time. I used wireframes to display concepts and the potential look and feel of the application across the process. I also included sticky notes to describe choices and suggest additional features.
Preliminary Research:
-
To conveniently connect with customers who need their cargo delivered at any time.
-
Straightforward and easy-to-use/complete onboarding process.
-
Help their community
User Needs:
Target User:
Employment status: Working adult

-
Inability to find work during their off times
-
Some users might not be tech-savvy and could get frustrated if the service is overly complicated
-
Busy schedules
User Frustrations:
Understanding the user:
Before creating the user flow chart, I took the time to get a better understanding of the user (driver), and after conducting surveys and interviews, it became clear that:
Car-go User Flow
Reflection
It was a pleasure bringing Car-go to life. One of my biggest takeaways was the importance of studying and analyzing other products(competitors); It drastically furthers your understanding of specific topics and helps you gain critical insight into essential features users want and need. Furthermore, breaking down other products gives you a competitive edge; it enables you to come up with better features you wouldn't have thought of initially.
Takeaways:
What I loved doing the most
I had the best time putting together the foundation of the application; I structured the whole user flow reasonably quickly, and my head was exploding with ideas for new features (as you can tell from the number of sticky notes).
Once the initial foundation was in place, the rest was easy. It came down to deciding what features were essential to the process and what parts had to go.
Before designing the user flow, I analyzed the onboarding process of other transportation services such as Uber, Lift, Careem, and Uhaul to gain insight and inspiration. All these services included a thorough screening process and background checks for all users, typically taking from 48 hours to 5 business days.
